Student Bus Pass Fees

 

  1. Who will pay a Bus Fee?
  2. Any K-2 student who lives 2 miles or less from school is charged a fee.

  3. How is the distance calculated?
  4. The District follows the Massachusetts Department of Education Pupil/Transportation Guide and uses a computer program that calculates the mileage from the entrance way of the school to the home of the student

  5. When is the fee due?
  6. The due date for Bus Fees is August 15, 2003

  7. Is there a payment plan?
  8. If you have more than one child, you may pay half up front and pay the other half by November 15, 2003

  9. Is the fee refundable for any reason?
  10. The fee is refundable if the student moves out of the district

  11. Will families who need assistance be accommodated?
  12. Yes. Families that meet Federal income guidelines (for free or reduced lunch) will pay a reduced amount. Waivers and special payment plans may be arranged in cases of significant hardship. Please contact the Transportation Office for details (978-363-2280, Ext. 25).

  13. Is there a cap on Bus Fees?
  14. No, but there is a $1,000 family cap on total fees (transportation and student activity fees) for the year. Student parking fees are not included within this family cap.

  15. Why is the District only charging some students?

 

Under law regional districts can charge for the transportation of students who live less than two miles from their assigned school.
