INFORMATION FROM THE
SUPERINTENDENT
October
13, 2006
The school year is off to a great start and we appreciate your support of
our efforts. Please let us know if we can serve you and your student(s) in a
better way. Several initiatives are underway where we need your assistance and
input to help the Pentucket Regional School District meet its purpose to
continuously improve student achievement at all grade levels and in all
subjects.
1.
School Board Seeks Your Input on Strategic Plan – On
October 24, 2006, the School Board is developing a three year strategic plan to
guide the district. We need your comments and suggestions on the values,
beliefs, mission, and goals that will serve as the foundation for our planning. Please
come to our open input session on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. at the
2.
Conversations with the Superintendent – I have scheduled
the following dates to meet with parents and community members. This two-way
dialogue is intended for me to share information with you about district
initiatives and for you to ask questions about our schools. I hope you can
attend all or some of the dates listed below. Additional dates for the spring
will be scheduled. All meetings will be held at the

3. District and School Based
E-Mail Communication – To better communicate with families and
community members, we have set up e-mail for each building and the district as a
whole. Please sign onto our website, www.prsd.org, and sign up
to receive both of these
communications. The schools and I will use this email system to distribute
important information about events, meetings, and emergencies as appropriate. I
will use the district e-mail as one method of announcing snow days. We will
still continue to use other methods of communications as well including; hard
copy distribution, newspapers, local cable, and snow days on radio and
television. We will need your input on various surveys that will be distributed
through these e-mail systems to collect data on how we can improve our process
of student learning.
4.
Curriculum Brochures – The
staff has done phenomenal work to produce curriculum brochures in every subject
and at every grade level. The final edits are being made and we hope to have
these available on our website (www.prsd.org) and for hard
copy distribution in November. Please review these essential learning standards
that your student needs to meet and ask your children questions about their
class work. Additional information about our curriculum is also available at
each school.
As always, please let us know how we can better meet the needs of your
children and our communities. Yes, resources are finite, but it is generally
possible to find solutions if we form strong and supportive relationships
between the student, the school, and the home. Alone
we may achieve, but together we will succeed! I look forward to meeting with
you at some of our upcoming meetings and events. I thank you in advance for the
assistance you constantly give your children and for the input you will bring to
us in our work to improve the
