Private School Application Information

The following is a list of private schools and their application due dates:

Dec. 15: Saint John’s

Dec. 19: Central Catholic

Dec. 26: Austin Prep

Dec. 31: Berwick Academy, St. Thomas Aquinas

Jan. 15: Brooks, Governor’s Academy, Philips Andover/Exeter Academy, Pingree

Jan. 20: Waring School

Teacher Recommendations:

Most schools require a math and English recommendation.  Please use the above due dates to ensure that you give teachers a recommendation form either on or before Dec. 1, 2009 for applications due in December and on or before Jan. 4, 2010 for applications due in January.  Unfortunately, there will be no exceptions to this rule as teachers need ample time to write thorough and thoughtful recommendations for your students.  Please submit only recommendation requests for schools you are seriously considering attending.

Checklist:  Please be sure to provide teachers with the following:

___ One application per school your child is applying to

___ Personal information at the top of each application completed by students or  parents

___ Stamped, addressed envelopes for each school, so PRMS can send the application to the school

___ All individual applications bundles together in a large envelope, clearly marked with your child’s name and a list of the schools he/she is applying to

Some schools also require a writing sample. This is something you want to let your English teacher know about two weeks prior to the application deadline.  During the first couple of writing assignments be aware these will probably be the samples you will be selecting your writing sample from, so make sure that you do your best work.

Good luck and if you have any questions, please speak with your teacher or the guidance office.
