English Language Arts
The English program at Pentucket is designed to develop mastery of the many language arts skills. In a rapidly changing world, these skills continue to be the basic foundation for intellectual and personal growth and are necessary for effective study in every discipline.
After successfully completing the program, students should be able to:
-
To communicate ideas critically and constructively, using appropriate words, pronunciation, and grammar.
-
To generate ideas and to organize, draft, revise, and edit written material.
-
To ask and answer questions and to express and defend a point of view with evidence.
-
To identify and understand the main ideas (both explicit and implicit) in a written work and then summarize them in their own words.
