Global Languages
The goal of the Global Languages Department is that all students should reach the intermediate level in the target language and explore the five Cs goal areas before graduation. The Pentucket Global Languages Program offers a five-year sequence in German and Spanish (Level I-5) and Online Choices. Advanced Placement courses are offered in German and Spanish. All curricula adhere to the Massachusetts State Foreign Language Curriculum Frameworks and the National Standards in Foreign Language. The *ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines are used to assess world language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in three modes, Interpersonal, Interpretive, and Presentational. The world languages curriculum also explores the five goal areas of Communication, Culture, Connections, Comparisons, and Community as well as the AP themes (Global Challenges, Science and Technology; Contemporary Life, Personal and Public Identities; Families and Communities; and Beauty and Aesthetics) in all courses to focus on Global Citizenship.
