Library-Media Center

The library media staff welcomes any opportunity to individually assist learners in honing their information literacy skills.  All seventh graders receive an orientation to the services and sources offered. All ninth graders engage in a multi-day research skills lesson. Pentucket has a research guide online to aid students in their research, and presentation of that research. It is located on the library page of the school website. The library staff collaborates with the subject area departments, i.e. Social Studies, English, and Fine Arts to integrate information literacy into the curriculum in a holistic approach. Additionally, the library staff offers seventh graders Library enrichment lessons to assist students in honing basic study skills i.e. note taking, test taking, and study skills.  The Librarian’s goal is to develop information-literate students.

Information-literate students can:

  • determine the need and extent of information for a given assignment

  • locate information from a variety of authoritative sources effectively and efficiently

  • analyze and evaluate the relevance of information and its source to specific assignments

  • integrate information properly i.e. use quotes, paraphrases and cite sources properly

  • understand that there are a variety of formats and materials available to accommodate ability levels and learning styles.

All graduates of the Pentucket Regional Middle High School will successfully use their knowledge and skills to be lifelong learners, problem solvers, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens.
